Karyna Pulcho: The Art of Tattooing as a Path to Restoring Confidence

Karyna Pulcho is a tattoo artist with seven years of experience, originally from Ukraine. Her journey in the tattoo industry began while she was still a student at the architectural academy. In her second year, she enrolled in the prestigious Planeta Tattoo school in Kyiv, where she trained under ten different mentors. This experience became not only a foundation for her professional skills but also a source of inspiration.

Since childhood, Karyna has been passionate about creativity — drawing, dancing, organizing cultural events. By the age of 11, she realized that her sketches resembled tattoo designs, and by 16 she was deeply immersed in tattoo theory, saving money for high-quality training, understanding that a strong foundation was the key to success.

After graduating from the academy, Karyna opened her first tattoo studio, where she combined her knowledge of architecture, a business mindset, and a love for art. Over time, she focused on a special field — covering up unsuccessful tattoos, scars, burns, and stretch marks. For Karyna, these projects became more than just tattoos; they help people regain confidence and overcome insecurities and emotional trauma.

“For me, the most important thing is the emotions people feel when they see the result. It’s not just a tattoo — it’s a way to help a person feel free, confident, beautiful,” says Karyna.

Her projects are known not only in Ukraine but also internationally. In 2023, Karyna moved to the U.S., where she first developed as a tattoo artist in Los Angeles before finding her place in San Francisco. There, she continues to create unique tattoos and grow within the industry.

Karyna is a member of the National Association of Tattoo Masters (Ukraine), the Alliance of Professional Tattooists (USA), and an official ambassador of Global Tattoo Magazine.

About styles, projects, and inspiration

Karyna works in Japanese tattoo, Neo-Japanese, Neo-Traditional, Micro-Realism styles and specializes in cover-up tattoos. What inspires her most are projects that involve working with scars and covering old tattoos.

“This is about more than aesthetics. It’s about connecting with a person on a psychological level. Very often, clients tell me their stories — what surgery they had, what they went through. By concealing these marks, I help not only visually, but also emotionally.”

For such projects, Karyna created her own Instagram initiative — Ink Revive — where people can openly share their stories and receive personalized designs.

Experience and achievements

Karyna actively participates in tattoo conventions. In spring 2025, she was invited as a judge at the Villain Arts Tattoo Festival in Chicago. Later, she took part in the Tahoe Tattoo Show in Nevada, where she completed two large color projects and won several awards. These events inspire her to develop new ideas and share experiences with other artists.
